Building A Business of Your Own

About Me

I am so very fortunate! I am doing work that I love, and my business benefits my community and helps animals. I started Bare Bones Dog Wash in June of 2002, spent five years learning what works, and opened up a second location in 2007.  I learn something new every day, especially from listening to my customers.

I worked in management for 30 years.  But after becoming increasingly disillusioned by decisions sent down from my company’s corporate headquarters, I decided to leave. It was tough, if not down right terrifying, trading security for uncertainty.  However, by not following my heart I felt that I was selling myself and my community short.

After my departure, I worked a couple of odd jobs, and I took some time to define what I wanted.  Of course, supporting myself topped my list, but also essential was creating opportunities for others, contributing to the ethical treatment of animals, and keeping my hometown vibrant.

Through the success of Bare Bones Dog Wash, I am now able to pour my heart and soul into a business that I believe in. I employ an exceptional group of people and I choose to sell products that are preferably American made and ecologically friendly. I am able to concentrate on pet nutrition and sell only food and supplements that I know are healthy. I am able to focus on customer service and to make sure everyone who comes into my shops feel welcome. More simply put, through my work I am now able to live my dream.
